Curren$y & Nesby Phips - Prioritize (Beeper Bill)

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Here is another heat rocket from the homie Curren$y, “Prioritize (Beeper Bill)” feat. Nesby Phips. This track is fire, adding to Spitta’s latest onslaught of tracks and videos proving why he is such a force in the game. Paying homage to some vintage Outkast in the hook, Prioritize is a smooth ride on the JETS plane.

And if you hadn’t noticed, this is ANOTHER killer video done by Creative Control TV. Their quality videos and editing are sitting high and above any of the lame editing that has been put out on the net lately. If you aren’t familiar with them yet, do yourself a favor… get from under that rock, and peep em here. If CC is listening, “Let’s do a 3rd ID interview video ASAP!!!” Hahaha!

“… Pay yo fuggin’ beeper bill, bitch!!!”

Wale - Austin, TX - February 12, 2010

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

This past Friday, February 12th, Wale made his way down to Austin, Texas for a show at Republic Live. With opening acts by 3rd ID’s close partner, Problem Child (among others) the show was definitely on point. There was also a meet ‘n greet at Complete Clothing earlier in the day where he signed autographs, took pictures and chatted with fans. Peep some pictures at Complete’s website here. We were lucky enough to toss him some 3rd ID shirts and chopped it up with him for a few minutes.

Performing tracks off his debut “Attention Deficit” album as well as past jams from his older mixtapes, Wale put on a great show and showed Texas what DC hip-hop is all about. He also showed mad love for Texas and UT sports with plenty of player name drops in his lyrics like Colt McCoy and Wale’s own friend, and DC native, Kevin Durant.

To add some fun to the show, Wale was broadcasting the show live via his uStream account for all to see.

We’re looking forward to the next Wale show and maybe he will be back in town for this year’s SXSW festival.

Curren$y & DJ Cannon - Smokee Robinson

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

The long awaited mixtape from DJ Don Cannon & Curren$y Tha Hot Spitta, “Smokee Robinson” has finally hit the internet making tons of Spitta fans very happy. The tape has been a long time in the making and the Super Bowl Sunday release is sure to please all fans.

And if the music wasn’t enough heat for you, Spitta once again teamed up with us here at 3rd ID for some more hot cover art. The concept was based off old-school, vintage football trading cards. And with the release occurring on Super Bowl Sunday (along with the Saints’ win over the Colts) Spitta’s home town of New Orleans had an even stronger impact on the cover design and color schemes.

Hit the jump for the back cover, tracklist, download link for the tape. We have also included the original/alternate color scheme just for the fugg of it…

Conrizzle - A Breath Of Fresh Air

Friday, January 29th, 2010

The long awaited, “A Breath Of Fresh Air” album from North Carolina’s own Conrizzle, is finally upon us. As well as having a few featured tracks on 3rd ID’s own “Cuts From The New Cloth” mixtape in ‘09, ‘Rizzle is making quite an impact with his talents for beat-making and spittin’ rhymes.

This was recorded in Arizona three years ago and doesn’t reflect on how much ‘Rizzle has grown since. He was still nice with it back then showing a timeless style that is true to his album name, and very much a breath of fresh air. It’s the first of many good things to come from ‘Rizzle this year, so stay tuned.

Artist Spotlight: Street Kid

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Christian Washington from New Orleans, Louisiana is a gifted rapper known to most as “Kidd”. “Kidd”, short for “Street Kidd” grew up in the uptown portion of New Orleans, more specifically the 12th ward. He grew up with a genuine love for music encompassing all genres. Kidd picked up a pen at a young age when he met his first producer and DJ, DJ Moon. DJ Moon showed him how to hone and perfect an original, yet familiar flow. Together they created an underground Mixtape titled “The Street Kidd”, hence the name.

Kidd came across Alex “Pac” White, an upcoming producer and engineer in the city. “From day one, it was magic”, says Street Kidd on working with Alex White. They would continue to work and bond over their love of real hip-hop as well as their mutual understanding of hip hop’s role today. This commonality eventually led to Alex White signing on to manage Street Kidd.

A year later Street Kidd would link up with producer and Traffic Boutique owner Lawrence “Crack Tracks” Parker. The rest is soon to be history get familiar with Street Kidd and his new Ep “Refuse 2 Lose” presented by Cracktracks.

Be on the lookout for more of his music as well as future 3rd ID x Streetkid collab tees and cover art.
