Curren$y & Nesby Phips - Prioritize (Beeper Bill)

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Here is another heat rocket from the homie Curren$y, “Prioritize (Beeper Bill)” feat. Nesby Phips. This track is fire, adding to Spitta’s latest onslaught of tracks and videos proving why he is such a force in the game. Paying homage to some vintage Outkast in the hook, Prioritize is a smooth ride on the JETS plane.

And if you hadn’t noticed, this is ANOTHER killer video done by Creative Control TV. Their quality videos and editing are sitting high and above any of the lame editing that has been put out on the net lately. If you aren’t familiar with them yet, do yourself a favor… get from under that rock, and peep em here. If CC is listening, “Let’s do a 3rd ID interview video ASAP!!!” Hahaha!

“… Pay yo fuggin’ beeper bill, bitch!!!”

Wale - Austin, TX - February 12, 2010

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

This past Friday, February 12th, Wale made his way down to Austin, Texas for a show at Republic Live. With opening acts by 3rd ID’s close partner, Problem Child (among others) the show was definitely on point. There was also a meet ‘n greet at Complete Clothing earlier in the day where he signed autographs, took pictures and chatted with fans. Peep some pictures at Complete’s website here. We were lucky enough to toss him some 3rd ID shirts and chopped it up with him for a few minutes.

Performing tracks off his debut “Attention Deficit” album as well as past jams from his older mixtapes, Wale put on a great show and showed Texas what DC hip-hop is all about. He also showed mad love for Texas and UT sports with plenty of player name drops in his lyrics like Colt McCoy and Wale’s own friend, and DC native, Kevin Durant.

To add some fun to the show, Wale was broadcasting the show live via his uStream account for all to see.

We’re looking forward to the next Wale show and maybe he will be back in town for this year’s SXSW festival.

New Artist - Bugsy - San Antonio, TX

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

3rd ID has been in the talks with a new emcee from our own home state of Texas. From rocking hole-in-the wall clubs across Texas to sitting in studios with some of today’s biggest household names, Bugsy is a hot up and coming hip-hop artist out of San Antonio, TX. Be on the look out.

Bugsy bum-rushed his way into the game by appearing on major mixtapes such as Paul Wall’s “Live From the Gridiron“, Lil’ Flip’s “Envy Me“, Lil Flip & Mr. Capon-E “Connected” the album, DJ 31 Degreez “Texas Massacre 6 & 7” and compilations across the nation.

Now, with the help of FCMG/2411 Mgmt LLC/Frequency Revolution, and “The Specialist” DJ Double R, Bugsy is sure to leave his mark on the great state of Texas and beyond. Bugsy understands what is takes to survive in todays industry, and has overcome great obstacles to get his young career off the ground. “This is no over-night story….. yet my persistence will pay-off….” says the kid, “It will all comeback around…. And I’ll be the one with the smile on my face….”

We are looking forward to working with Bugsy, and we plan to be working on his upcoming mixtape and album covers as well as some collab t-shirt projects. Keep ya’ll posted!

Props to World Star Hip-Hop for the video… and a bunch of other sites for the links.

Texas, stand up.

Kid Cudi x Asher Roth x B.o.B. x Pac Div - Houston

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

We made our way to the House of Blues Houston for the Asher Roth x Kid Cudi concert this past Friday night. Opening for them was Pac Div and B.o.B. who both killed it. The place was packed and the hype that has been building around these artists was very evident.

Here is a video of a small portion of Asher Roth’s set while Bun B (who made a guest appearance) watches from the sidelines. Bun came out to spit his verse on “I’m The Man” with B.o.B. and shut the place down! H-Town loves their own and sure showed it for Bun. Watch as he gets very hype during the show. I personally watched him from the crowd jammin’ out, recording video, while singing along to every song Asher performed. I love watching a legend feeling that same “fan feeling” while watching new talent. You will see at the end of the video how strong Bun felt as he meets with Asher after the performance backstage.

Cudi’s set was good (no pun intended). I was a little brought back at how different the show was from his last Houston show at the same House of Blues venue (see previous post here). A huge lighting effect wall back drop along with a “New New Cudi” presence made for a very Kanye-ish feel. The direction of Mr. West is evident in his set and the people seemed to like the show. The crowd was lost at times due to the slow pace and nature of Cudi’s new tracks, but everyone was brought back to life whenever he dropped any hit from “A Kid Named Cudi”.

Overall, it was a great show and if you ever have a chance to see these acts in your city or town, do it. Anyone who didn’t know of B.o.B. is definitely now a fan, and anyone who doubts Asher Roth needs to go to one of his shows, you won’t be disappointed.

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Here’s a vid of Exile and DJ Day rehearsing their tribute to Michael Jackson in their hotel room. They would perform this later that night.

These vids of Exile making his music always put me in awe.
