The 3rd has been keeping a good relationship with up and coming artist G5-Gi and received some recent shots of him for his latest photo shoot rocking his turquoise Cavalry & Lawn Club tee. If you ‘aint familiar with the kid, here’s some info off his site…
“Organic Hip-Hop seems like it is on the come up once again. G5-Gi feels like now is as good a time as any to leave his mark on the industry. G5-Gi has mainstream marketability, but his stand against “cookie cutter music” is what makes him appeal to all music lovers.
Watching music being made is fuggin’ great. It’s always dope to get some inside looks into talented artist’s methods for creating their music and seeing the antics and fun that they have while doing so. After watching this Closed Sessions/Ruby Hornet video of Hollywood Holt, U-N-I, CurT@!n$ and Million $ Mano mashing out the heater “So Cold,” we had to share the video. These are some of the top up and coming talents that we strongly support and urge you to do so as well.
Peep www.ClosedSessions.com to download this track along with much more off the Clossed Sessions Vol.1 tape. Great music….do it!!
We’ve had a bunch of video come through from SXSW of all the shows that we checked out and artists we work with. So much so that I have been quite lazy about posting any of them. Many apologies people, but honestly there’s a grip of videos at every major music blog (NahRight, OnSmash, SmokingSection, 2DopeBoys, etc.) that you can check out if you need a fix.
Our video homie Nino, who somehow ended up on every damn stage with camera in hand the entire week, got some great footage and we’re hoping to have that all up and posted very soon. You can barely see him in there rockin’ The 3rd’s Flyin’ High shirt in this particular video to the left. Also, big shouts to the homie Mousa killin’ the new limited edition gray Pin It Up shirt on the right side of the stage (also a little tough to see).
This is a video of Wiz Khalifa performing a few tracks including him bringing out Jackie Chain at the NahRight x Smoking Section Grand Ole Party at Peckerheads during SXSW 2010.
3rd ID will be releasing these two colorways of a limited run special for South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival that takes place in Austin, TX during mid-March. The design is meant to encompass all of the music, art and beauty that Austin has to offer. The shirts will also come with a new matching sticker
There’s no better time to be in Austin than during the popular event which includes an array of live music, movies, art and technology. Endless shows and parties flood the city at every local bar and club. The 3rd is lucky enough to call Austin, TX home and we have a great time playing host along with our fellow supporters and local businesses.
Be sure to cop one (or 3!!) of these shirts as they will be gone quick and won’t be re-printed. They will be available via our online shop on Wednesday, March 17th and through selected vendors that carry 3rd ID.
If you’re in the Texas area, be sure to make it to ATX the week of 3/15-3/20. You won’t be disappointed! Hit the jump for some detailed shots of the two new shirts.
Here is another heat rocket from the homie Curren$y, “Prioritize (Beeper Bill)” feat. Nesby Phips. This track is fire, adding to Spitta’s latest onslaught of tracks and videos proving why he is such a force in the game. Paying homage to some vintage Outkast in the hook, Prioritize is a smooth ride on the JETS plane.
And if you hadn’t noticed, this is ANOTHER killer video done by Creative Control TV. Their quality videos and editing are sitting high and above any of the lame editing that has been put out on the net lately. If you aren’t familiar with them yet, do yourself a favor… get from under that rock, and peep em here. If CC is listening, “Let’s do a 3rd ID interview video ASAP!!!” Hahaha!
On Saturday, February 27th a new sneaker boutique hit the streets of Austin, Texas. Nice Kicks opened its doors with a bang… and a huge ass line!! Located on 2815 Guadalupe Street, Nice Kicks is deep in the heart of Austin, offering University of Texas students and other other drag inhabitants a nice treat while crusing the strip. And with the newest selection of exclusive sneakers and accessories as well as an appearance from Texas legend Bun B, the grand opening was a great event.
Shouts to Matt over at Nice Kicks as we wish him all the best with the new shop, and we look forward to becoming some regular customers. Maybe one day soon we can be lucky enough to call nice Kicks an official 3rd ID vendor!!
This past Friday, February 12th, Wale made his way down to Austin, Texas for a show at Republic Live. With opening acts by 3rd ID’s close partner, Problem Child (among others) the show was definitely on point. There was also a meet ‘n greet at Complete Clothing earlier in the day where he signed autographs, took pictures and chatted with fans. Peep some pictures at Complete’s website here. We were lucky enough to toss him some 3rd ID shirts and chopped it up with him for a few minutes.
Performing tracks off his debut “Attention Deficit” album as well as past jams from his older mixtapes, Wale put on a great show and showed Texas what DC hip-hop is all about. He also showed mad love for Texas and UT sports with plenty of player name drops in his lyrics like Colt McCoy and Wale’s own friend, and DC native, Kevin Durant.
To add some fun to the show, Wale was broadcasting the show live via his uStream account for all to see.
We’re looking forward to the next Wale show and maybe he will be back in town for this year’s SXSW festival.
The long awaited mixtape from DJ Don Cannon & Curren$y Tha Hot Spitta, “Smokee Robinson” has finally hit the internet making tons of Spitta fans very happy. The tape has been a long time in the making and the Super Bowl Sunday release is sure to please all fans.
And if the music wasn’t enough heat for you, Spitta once again teamed up with us here at 3rd ID for some more hot cover art. The concept was based off old-school, vintage football trading cards. And with the release occurring on Super Bowl Sunday (along with the Saints’ win over the Colts) Spitta’s home town of New Orleans had an even stronger impact on the cover design and color schemes.
Hit the jump for the back cover, tracklist, download link for the tape. We have also included the original/alternate color scheme just for the fugg of it…
Another Super Bowl is upon us and this one should be a good game. If it’s anything like last year’s Steelers vs. Arizona game, then I’ll be happy!!
I will be even more happy if the Saints win. 3rd ID has mad love for New Orleans and everything bout the city, so seeing them take that trophy back to “The Boot” will be a great site. Especially given everything they’ve been through over the past few years. I just wish we were all gonna be there for Bourbon Street’s craziness once they do take that title.
I will not overlook the Colt’s and maybe one of the best QB’s to ever play the game, but my heart is with New Orleans so all I gotta say is “WHO DAT?!?!?”
Much to the satisfaction of hip-hop heads all throughout Texas, Washington DC’s very own, Wale will be making his way to Austin for a show at Republic Live on Friday, February 12, 2010.
With opening acts from some of 3rd ID’s close homies, The Table Manners Crew and Problem Child, this should be a night to remember.
